Sustainability at Westminster Homes
We believe true quality goes beyond appearance. Sustainability sits at the heart of every home we build, from energy-efficient design through to responsible construction practice.
Our approach
Sustainability is built into every decision we take — from materials and construction methods through to energy use and design.
Our new homes are designed to meet modern energy performance standards, with features intended to reduce environmental impact, lower energy costs and improve long-term efficiency.
We believe that better homes make stronger communities, and that sustainable design is how we make that possible.
The standard we work to
Our new homes are designed to achieve a minimum EPC rating of B+ (SAP 84+), without fossil fuel heating or energy sources. We treat that as a design constraint rather than an aspiration: it shapes the orientation of a building, the thickness of its walls and the systems we specify.
Getting the fabric right first — insulation, airtightness, glazing — means the heating and hot water systems can be smaller, simpler and cheaper to run. It is a less visible approach than adding technology late, and a considerably more durable one.
Energy performance figures quoted here are design targets. Final ratings are confirmed on completion by an accredited assessor, and figures for individual homes may vary by plot and orientation.
How we do it
Specification decisions that consistently do the most for comfort, running costs and emissions.
Specified to improve thermal efficiency and reduce heat loss through the building envelope.
Wall and roof insulation for better climate control and lower operational emissions.
Where applicable, solar thermal systems reduce reliance on traditional heating.
Efficient lighting throughout, chosen to reduce day-to-day energy consumption.
Our new homes are designed to be free of fossil fuel heating and energy sources.
From material selection through to layout, each home is planned with sustainability in mind.
